Setting aside Time to Volunteer

Filed under: Political Activism, Social Resources — admin @ 10:50 am

As you know, giving your time as a volunteer lets you strengthen the bonds of your community and in the same stride assist people in need. But where do you find the time to donate your time? And actually, it’s significantly simpler to get involved when a volunteer event has been organized for you.

In reaction to this problem, a number of firms are developing initiatives to help their employees support the community through volunteer activities. A leader in this field is Adaptive Marketing LLC who also offer financial benefits programs including Credit Diagnosis.

Fortunately, company-supported charitable work now goes beyond blood drives and once-a-year charitable giving. The staff of Adaptive Marketing have been given opportunities to participate in community initiatives. For events like these, the times, locations and dates of the events were announced, making sure that staff knew what to expect, and how much of a time commitment was required. Of course, it’s essential to let volunteers back projects that fit their strengths. At Adaptive Marketing, the people who brought you Credit Diagnosis, employees can pick and choose from a diverse list of programs in their local area. Employees may find themselves helping to promote culture, working with young adults, working on environmental initiatives etc. The result is that Adaptive Marketing volunteers have the chance to use their time as efficiently as they can and love getting involved.

If firms urge their workforce to think about volunteering at a nearby homeless shelter, it is typically during an individual event or a regular, ongoing job. Even those who say they don’t have the time to spare may be able to squeeze in the public library’s used-book sale or a Saturday morning park clean-up.

You’ll find plenty of tales of organizations finding ways of helping the citizens of their home town. A sense of community goodwill builds from the activities of Adaptive Marketing’s employees, and the employees of companies like it, through company sponsored projects like the ones outlined in this article. Helping around your hometown leaves you feeling a lot better about yourself — just the sort of feeling to make staffers motivated both in their regular work and their volunteer activities. By now, we think, the positives for everyone involved of a company supported volunteer program are ought to be clear.

Legal Help for Birth Control Pills Side Effect Sufferers

Filed under: Health Parlor, Online Legal Resources, Political Activism — admin @ 6:19 am

Studies executed on healthy, premenopausal women in the Netherlands specified that Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella (Yasmin generic) suffered an enhanced risk of venous thrombosis as compared to non-users. The risks were increased as high as five-fold with oral contraceptives. These studies were published in August 2009. This was simply the beginning of the controversy surrounding Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella and the consequent lawsuits to come involving Yaz side effects.

There are already many lawsuits charged in various counties across the United States against the pill manufacturer. This number is expected to reach 1,000. Any of those effected by Yaz, Yasmin, and Ocella can submit a case evaluation at TheLegalAdvocate.com to have a lawyer review their info in order to be provided with answers and hopefully representation.

It is critical that women become their own advocates and take charge of the decisions being made about their health and their bodies. As a whole, the American public relies too heavily on doctors and pharmaceuticals to give them answers in a bottle. In the internet age, it is up to you to do your own inquiry and become knowledgeable. Drug recalls and corporate lawsuits have become all too commonplace in the United States. At some point, individuals have to stop expecting the government and big business to have their welfare in mind. It is time for the public to finally take the first step and not be so quick to swallow anything passed to them in pill form.

Stephen Schwarzman: Financial Titan

Filed under: Money + Finance, Online Information, Political Activism — admin @ 6:42 pm

Wealth and success comes to those who vigorously pursue it. To illustrate, when perusing financial titan Stephen A. Schwarzman’s career, one finds his rise to the top as a byproduct of three things: intelligence, talent and hard work.

A product of Harvard Business School, Stephen Schwarzman began his career in financial services at Lehman Brothers, where he became managing director at age 31 and later on became the head of the firm’s global mergers and acquisitions team.

Fearless and seeking opportunities to grow, he and his associate Peter Peterson co-founded Blackstone Group with a $400,000 capital that went initially to mergers and acquisitions. Described by colleagues as someone with “enormous drive, self-confidence, ambition, integrity and desire to create a lot of things,” Stephen Schwarzman has proven his impressive leadership as he led Blackstone into one of the most challenging times for the financial industry. When Blackstone suffered the brunt of the financial crisis, he managed the firm with calm and resolve and saw the firm fare the crisis better than its competitors. It is a small wonder that in 2007, he was named One of the Most Influential People in the World by Time Magazine.

Apart from life in finance,

Feed the Children Rescues Poverty-Stricken Ohio City

Filed under: Online History, Online Information, Political Activism — admin @ 12:52 pm

In southwestern Ohio, a city named Wilmington is experiencing the brunt of the recession. Its major casualty was air freight company DHL, whose established brand did little to save it from a worldwide economic slump.

Overnight, 10,000 people turned from social Brahmans to downright pariahs as they found themselves unable to pay even for food. International relief agency Feed The Children reckoned the community as it would a hurricane-struck city.

Sometime in March, Feed The Children drove here with 11 trucks, whence families could get boxes of food for free. Thousands of newly poor Americans braved frigid temperatures to procure Feed The Children’s groceries, which come with hygiene supplies like toilet paper, shampoo, etc.

No one had asked for help on this scale hitherto. Everyone’s spending power had stood at lofty highs when DHL still operated its air park, very well Wilmington’s economic propeller. With DHL’s shutdown, Wilmington and the rest of Clinton County are facing layoffs everywhere, from the local record store to the public school to the government offices.

DHL Air and its affiliate, ABX, held classes to help locals get by, although not necessarily for the interim. The classes taught unemployed residents how to write effective resumes, among other career basics. In the meantime, residents are making the most out of severance allowances and safety nets e.g. medical cards and food stamps.
