Getting SomeGamble into Your Poker Game

Filed under: Enjoy, Gambling Fortunes, Games + Cheats — admin @ 11:51 am

Generally there are two types of poker players - those who like to gamble on luck, and those who play strategically with an eye to leveraging luck.

The gamblers are easy to spot. These are the players who see lots of flops, and keep calling to a draw. They do get lucky and suck out the bad beat sometimes, but mostly they just call off their chips. These players are more common in cash games where you can keep reaching into your wallet to stay in the action.

Strategic players stick to solid online poker playing principles. They adhere to starting hand guidelines, adjust their bets according to position, and rarely chase when the flop misses their hands. Sometimes they play a little too tight, and that can be the weakness of this type of play. Those who typically play tournaments tend to be tighter, and generally bring that style of play to cash tables.

Most often at cash tables, there will be mix of both types of players. You can spot the gamblers because they limp into and call so many pots. The strategic players fold a lot of hands and only see a few flops.

Ideally, you should be able to mix up your play to include a little of both styles. When you are at a tight poker online table, you can loosen up and be more unpredictable to intimidate the rock players into folding. If you’re up against gamblers, then tighten up and wait for the best starting hands, and look for opportunities to let the gambler do the raising for you.

Bankroll Protection

Filed under: Enjoy, Gambling Fortunes, Games + Cheats — admin @ 11:12 am

How can you take steps to protect your bankroll and manage it more carefully? The first thing is to avoid taking dumb risks with your bankroll, like gambling in long odds house games. Keep your poker money separate from gambling money, which should be viewed as recreational discretionary spending. It is rare for any player to consistently beat the house, so don’t risk your bankroll on these games.

If you are going to play in large, multi-table poker online tournaments, then figure out what percentage of your bankroll the entry fee represents. These tournaments have a lot of variance, and the chances of winning are always slim. Don’t pay more than a few percentage points of your bankroll to enter a tournament.

Be careful before making the decision to move up to a higher stakes game. For instance, if you are playing in 5/10 limit games and winning, you might think you’re ready to take on the 10/20 game. If you bankroll can’t fund at least 300 big bets at the next level, then you should not move up.

Keep your bankroll separate from your other spending money. Think of it as investment money and use it only for the designated purpose of funding your poker online games. Of course, when you have an especially big win, it’s alright to celebrate with a special treat of some kind, but reserve most of your profit for your bankroll.

Online players gain more leverage and power by concentrating their bankroll at one site instead of spreading it around to several online poker rooms. The smaller your bankroll at each site, the less power it has to grow.

How Legends Are Made

Filed under: Enjoy, Gambling Fortunes, Games + Cheats — admin @ 11:13 am

Doyle Brunson, “the godfather of poker” and author of the best-selling “Super System” book won the World Series of Poker back-to-back in 1977 and 1978. And he enjoyed a rather astounding coincidence by winning with the same hand - 10/2 — both times, which is why the hand is known as the Doyle Brunson. The hand certainly can’t be considered a good poker starter, and most players would throw it away when not in a blind. However, in heads-up play, anything goes. In this first win, Brunson was dealt 10-2 Spades and was up against Ace-Jack offsuit. His opponent, Jesse Alto, raised and Brunson called with his weak hand. Out came Ace-Jack-10 on the flop. Naturally, Alto with Aces up made a big bet, equal to the pot. Brunson responded by shoving all his poker chips in with his paired 10. Alto immediately called, and was ahead with two pairs. Brunson got very lucky when a 2 came out on the turn and river, completing a full house for Brunson and winning him the championship title. The following year, he was again heads-up for the title, and looked down to see the 10-2 once more. His opponent Bones Berland had 8-5, so both players had rag hands. Out came 10-8-5 on the flop. Brunson had top pair, and Berland made two pair. Both players got tricky and slow played the flop. When the turn brought a 2, giving Brunson two pair also, he went all-in. Berland called, and the river was a 10, giving Brunson a full house again to win poker’s most prestigious tournament.

The Ten-Pin Monthly: Bowling Hints for Beginning Bowlers

Filed under: Enjoy, Games + Cheats, Recreation Stuff — admin @ 3:21 pm

I regularly hear from a social bowler eager to treat the game of bowling competitively for the first time. Should that be your calling, you’re approaching a major time in learning the game as a dedicated bowling competitor. Listen up, because this introduction to A Bowler’s Development shouldn’t be ignored. The guys from a nearby bowling pro shop can help bowlers reach their bowling zen mental toughness. Just like a lot of sports, the bowling balls do all the work (after you roll them). That’s a joke. Okay, so it’s more complicated than that. It’s all good, we’ll have you bowling the best way we know how.

You’ll definitely want to invest a little in the specialized bowling balls, bowling ball bags, and shoes needed to do this right. You’ll notice a difference with your own stuff. It’s no joke, get your own ball drilled, and your game will benefit. A brand name drilled bowling ball can make a substantial improvement in your game. The same goes for having actual bowling shoes which are in good condition.

After you may have previous purchased comfortable supplies, listen to the number two piece of bowling advice: taking aim. While you face the pins, don’t shoot for the back of the lane. Aim for the the notches on the lane like a sight on a firearm. What’s the point? It is easier to aim for a target a good deal nearer. For it to work right, include it as part of your routine to line-up at the exact spot on the floor every approach. If you do it the same every time you can make small adjustements on your marksmanship.

What about hooks, to achieve their desired pin action? That makes our bowling tip #3. It’s all in the specialized bowling ball. Many serious bowlers pack at least two bowling balls to get amazing pin action, selected precisely for many factors. But intermediates should keep it simple, and don’t get a ball that weighs a ton. Many pro bowlers use bowling balls with synthetic expert grip. Steer clear of them, because these special-made balls regularly make even some well known talents seem foolish. That’s our first 3 bowling tips. A pro from our bowling shop will return shortly.

–Edward Allen

My friends and I play for a company team (US Systems) comprised of the operation at Bowling Pro Shop down in Kansas City. I dispense guidance to aspiring bowlers online and in the pro shop. Lastly, I want to plug our crew at the center. Roll on!

More Folds Means More Wins

Filed under: Enjoy, Gambling Fortunes, Games + Cheats — admin @ 10:30 am

I’m going to say something that sounds weird, but this way you’ll remember it: the players who play online poker a lot also lose a lot. I don’t mean player’s who play a lot of poker online games per se, but players who play a lot of online poker hands every game. Players who aren’t picky about which hands they play most likely end up betting themselves into situations that have pretty limited chances of winning. Unless you know for sure that you won’t be getting raised, it’s usually never worth it to see a flop with rags in your hand. If you just want to play, then a 5-8 suited might be a fun little hand to throw away some chips on, but if you’re in it to win it, 5-8 suited is a great hand to throw away. Unless you hit a huge hand on the flop, that 5-8 is a wasted blind. If you somehow flop a set of 5’s or 8’s or even a full house, that’s terrific, but the odds of that happening are slim to none. Even if you make a flush, that 8 you’ve got makes it a severely weak one. What’s probably the worst thing that can happen is the flop giving you a straight draw. If the flop comes 4-6-Q, you might be tempted to throw a few more chips away in search for the straight you may not get. Don’t be a chaser, and don’t throw your chips away on longshot hands. Save them for the good stuff.

Dead Money

Filed under: Enjoy, Gambling Fortunes, Games + Cheats — admin @ 12:49 pm

online poker has all kinds of strange terminology, and one odd phrase is “dead money.” What exactly is dead money at casino games?

Dead money refers to the chips in the pot that are now abandoned by the player who initially put them in there. They have folded their cards, which are no longer live. Hence, the chips associated with those folded cards are now dead money. Most pots will contain dead money after the flop. When there is dead money in the pot, then there are fewer contenders to battle over it. Seasoned players will often put out big raises to drive other players off the pot and to isolate the field down to heads-up if possible.

Sometimes you’ll hear the phrase, “scared money is dead money.” This refers to those players who still have cards and chips in the pot. If these players exhibit any weakness or hesitation, then a big bet might frighten them away from their hands. The chips they put into the pot become dead money.

Tight weak pokerplayers, who check or fold to a raise most of the time, are most likely to contribute dead money to a pot. They are the ones who are easily intimidated by raises. Cunning poker players see these easily frightened players as scared, dead money opportunities that can be exploited by aggressive tactics.
