Creating a Holiday Look … Gold or Silver with a Kiss of Red

Filed under: Gender Issues — admin @ 6:55 am

Is there a special occasion or a formal get-together in your near-future? Consider some silver or gold sparkle with a “kiss” of red.

For your event, cleanse and moisturize your face thoroughly. Wait a moment for the moisturizer to be absorbed and then remove any excess. *Tip* … Coverage (foundation, etc.) goes on more evenly over well-hydrated than dry skin. If necessary, use concealer on dark circles and blemishes. *Trick* … Squeeze concealer in the palm of your hand to warm it and then mix it with foundation for more consistent color. Apply foundation either on specific areas to even out skin tone or all over your face. (Blend any foundation carefully with the surrounding skin so there are no noticeable lines.) *Trick* … “Set” the foundation with loose powder for longer lasting wear. *Trick* … Getting fine lines? Try a face primer; it fills in fine lines and, followed with foundation, makes skin appear smoother.

For fun, decide whether to enhance your eyes or lips. You want to draw attention to one set of features but not both at the same time.

If you want the focus to be on your eyes, you can dramatize them with one, two or three colors. Opting for a single color? Choose a silver or gold, whichever blends with your skin tone and complements your outfit. *Tip* … Silvers and grays are cool colors while golds are usually warm and less aging. *Trick* … Use an eye color cream or an eye primer with eye color for longer wear (a real plus when you’re out). You can mix both a cream or powder eye color with the eye primer. Apply your choice of silver or gold from eye lashes to brows.

Prefer more than one color? Select one as a mid-tone (over the eyelids). Add either silver or gold as an accent (lashes to creases of eyes). Highlight (under the brow bones) with whichever you haven’t used as an accent. *Trick … mix the mid-tone color with either silver or gold for an extra “pop.” *Tip* … Sparkle emphasizes fine lines so, if it’s a concern, just add sparkly color under the brow bones.

Define your eyes with eye liner only if it makes them appear larger. If your eye shadow is predominantly golden, consider a gold or brown liner. If your eye shadow is mainly silver, try a gray or black liner. *Trick* … Lining the lower lids seems to draw the eyes down. If signs of aging are a concern, concentrate on the upper lids.

Curl your eye lashes. *Tip* … Curling the lashes gives the impression of more open (wider) eyes. Follow with a mascara that meets your needs for lengthening or widening lashes. *Tip* … Brown tends to be softer and less aging while black is more dramatic.

Don’t forget your eyebrows; they help frame your face. Darken your eyebrows with either a matching brow liner or, for a softer touch, a brow powder or powder eye shadow. *Tip* … You can also brush your eye brows and set them with a clear gel.

Put on cheek color to emphasize your cheek bones. *Tip* … Either pat the color on the high points of your cheek bones or start roughly two fingers away from your nose and sweep the color up to your temples.

If you want the focus to be on your lips, tone down the eye makeup and consider a red lip shade. There’s a red for everyone. Let your skin tone determine which reds are most becoming: those with cool undertones berries) or warm undertones (corals). Then choose muted or bright, matte or shimmer depending upon the look you want to achieve. Lip liner and lip gloss are optional.

For softer lips to complement dramatic eyes, try a subdued red. Then razzle dazzle! You’ve created a special holiday look.

Eradicating The Heart of Poverty

Filed under: New Age Hub — admin @ 3:21 pm

Poverty can sometimes only be a state of mind, based on our perception and what we value in life. It is also a disheartening reality for many. The Webster dictionary describes poverty as having a chronic need for money and material goods. How many of us in America one of the richest countries in the world, have this chronic need to have and desire more and more?

Earlier this year I visited my native country of Belize. A relative of mine invited me to her country home. I noticed that my cousin took a lot of food supplies with her. I did not question her actions but noted that she said we were going for one night. After we got to our destination, I went exploring by myself. When I returned she invited me to accompany her as she visited with some of the local villagers. She drove about a mile along a lagoon that was partially dried up. As we neared the end of the sand path she pulled up in front of a shack. She greeted a rather plump girl who appeared very young. As they exchanged greetings, the woman’s face lit up. My cousin handed her a large portion of the food supply she had brought with her. The woman thanked her and went on to say she had some wonderful news. Without hesitating she began to narrate the events of her day. She attended church that morning. After the service commenced the pastor placed fifty dollars in her hands! She said, she rejoiced as she walked back home.

“When I left for church this morning she continued, I did not have any money. There wasn’t any food in my house to feed my children.” She ended with; “Something tells me that this is only the beginning of many good things to come.”

Later that day, after our initial encounter I talked with her a little more. I asked her about her family and children. She was indeed very young. I was almost twice her age. I did not see that we had much in common, with having a number of children as the exception. I shared that with her. I did not see the point in sharing much else. She was bubbly and cheerful the whole time we chatted. I responded to her in our native tongue. Doing so enabled me to identify a little more with her. She was blessing me in an unusually way. I began to examine myself. If I was ever poor I was not cognizance of it. This woman had a richness of spirit. Did this is mean that I now possessed a poorness of soul? Or had my priorities changed? How could that poverty-stricken woman be so satisfied with her nothingness? I have so much and I aspire to have much more.

Hunger is a daunting reality that ravishes the body and eventually deprives it of its very being. Slavery and abuse brings about poverty for many. They bind up any one who becomes a victim to any of them. Of any of these do we know which the more potent offenders are? In our quest to eradicate poverty should we try to eliminate every circumstance that brings it into being?

Charity begins at home. If we are unable to see the need of those around us, chances are that we will not be able to comprehend the needs of others we are not familiar with. Aren’t our own children starving for our love and attention? Do we as parents even have enough time for ourselves? Is our busyness justified because it emanates from our trying to fill our children’s and our own chronic need for money and material things? Are we in our country of abundance dying because we have this deep hunger within our souls? Are we enslaved by our possessions? Is this the reason we are less able to give? Are we trying to fill our own hunger with material wealth and entertainment? Is this the reason our deprived children are dying via their own hands? Can we truly as another sort of improvised nation make a significant contribution when we too are suffering as a result of our own wants?

I applaud Live 8 for the wonderful job they are doing in bringing about world wide awareness. After coming face to face with poverty, I had to examine my own thought process. I made no attempt to influence the young woman’s beliefs or to discourage or encourage her with my ideals. I believe that the first step is to accept that wealth and poverty come in many forms. People can be rich with material things but poor in morals and relationships. In contrast others can be poor in material things but content with the things that bring meaning to their lives. It is essential however, that all human beings have the basic necessities, like clean water, food and shelter.

For the most part, funds contributed to aid in providing these basic needs are not enough to reach all areas of our world. Individually one may not be able to contribute a large portion of money but together our help makes a difference. Who needs twelve pairs of shoes when they can only wear one pair at a time? Think about contributing the four dollars you spend a day for coffee, to help provide clean water for an entire village.

Ruth Andrews Garnes was born in Belize the second of six children. She moved to New York City at age eighteen. After studying nursing she worked in the emergency room in Bellevue Hospital. She currently resides with her husband and seven children in the Houston Texas area. Having always had a heart for hurting children she adopted four sisters. Through her writings she hopes to be able to make a difference to hurting children everywhere by giving a voice to their struggles.

In You the Fatherless Find Mercy

Filed under: New Age Hub — admin @ 7:27 pm

“…For in You the fatherless find mercy” (Hosea 14:3); “And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise” (Galatians 3:29).

I was adopted when I was five by a gentle man who I knew loved me. Many years later I married and had children who he loved just as much as he loved me. When he was 65 he died suddenly and months later our oldest son died. Shortly after, I joined a group to search for my biological father. At the time I thought it would comfort and support me to find my “real” father.

I went for about a year. During that year I wrote different places trying to get information and usually came up with little to nothing. Finally, at one of these meetings I listened yet again to the accounts of money and time spent searching for a rainbow that could just as easily turn into a storm. One day I decided at a meeting that I already had a Father who cared: “When my father and mother forsake me (for whatever reason), then the Lord will take care of me” (Psalm 27:10). Our Father’s mercy train had carried me through lands of both joy and sorrow this far, so why was I wasting His time and money reversing the train? The thought nourished me, and I didn’t go back to any more meetings.

I certainly don’t mean to criticize those who dig for their unknown roots. I rejoice when I read an account of relatives who have been brought together through these organizations that have done so much good work. But I felt that, if I personally kept pursuing the search, I was telling my Father that I lacked faith in Him that He would finally answer all my questions. Anyway, it wasn’t really necessary that I know. I felt enormous relief when I finally accepted this.

John 14:18 tells us: “No, I will not abandon you or leave you as orphans in the storm — I will come to you.” In this beloved chapter, Jesus promises the Presence of the Holy Spirit at all times for us. We need never feel alone! In this day of aloneness in the crowds, what a dear promise this is. In Zephaniah 3:17 NIV, we learn that “The Lord your God is with you, he is mighty to save. He will take great delight in you, he will quiet you with his love, he will rejoice over you with singing.” I particularly like the promise of God quieting us with His love. We really don’t have to worry about the peripherals in life when we have the Principal.

I suppose I also felt finally that it was a dishonor to my stepfather who was the only father I knew and loved. Again, this is not to disparage those who do searches. It’s only that I so believe that my heavenly Father filled the gap nicely, and I’d best leave it alone.

Thank You, Father, for being my Father!

Opening to the World of Possibility

Filed under: New Age Hub — admin @ 10:21 pm

Opening up to a world of unlimited possibility demands that I stand in responsibility for the choices that I make. This begins with the realization that I, not the mind, am the author of my life.

My mind is a stimulus response mechanism. Therefore it does not actually think, it concludes. When I unconsciously behave out of my recurring thoughts I am no longer thinking, I am reacting.

I think, and the mind records it as a thought, a particle of information.

The minds purpose is to assure my survival and the survival of whatever I consider myself to be at any given moment.

It records my present experience and by means of association with past information, it responds with a conclusion. It can only work within the limits of the information it has.

If you look the other way when I am talking to you my mind may interpret that to mean that you are not hearing me, invalidating me, disinterested, antagonistic, or any myriad of meanings that are brought about through association due to past information, therefore reinforcing its own prior conclusions. In this sense the mind is trapped in its own beliefs.

Simply said, when I look out into the world my mind interprets the information to mean something and the purpose of its conclusions is to always uphold and defend my survival.

The mind operates within a structure of survival and resistance tapes. It draws to it what it concludes I need in order to survive and resists what it concludes is a threat to my survival.

If my mind concludes that I am unacceptable yet also concludes that I need acceptance in order to survive, a problem occurs. If I agree with these conclusions I spend my time seeking acceptance and resisting it at the same time. The effect of this behavior is the essence of pain and unfulfilled desire.

To get outside of this scenario I must cultivate the ability to challenge the minds beliefs by remembering that it has no choice and therefore is bound within the information it has and the conclusions that have developed into beliefs.

It is designed to do this. It is not the minds fault.

Pure Being is Source. A Source is a point of origin. Nothing comes before it. It is Cause and Creator, also known as Spirit, and Self.

Choice is a quality of Pure Being. In order to create, the Creator must have a choice as to what will be created.

Choice is a function of Responsibility. Therefore responsibility abides with Source, the Creator.

Pure Being, Cause, Spirit, Source, Self, is all inclusive. There is nothing outside of it. It is not limited, has no boundaries and therefore is immeasurable. It is a no thing. Yet all things occur in it.

An effect is not a source. The mind is an effect and therefore is not a cause.

An effect is caused by Source for a purpose. The mind was created for the purpose of retaining information. It has boundaries and therefore is measurable, if not it could not hold thoughts. It is a thing.

The conceiver (me) is always greater than its conception (mind and its content).

A conception has no choice other than to be the thing conceived.

I Am not my mind, I Am not my thoughts, and I Am not my feelings or any of the minds content. I simply have a mind, I have thoughts, I have feelings and I have past experiences.

I am greater than these. I Am a Pure Being. I Am a Source, a Cause, and a Self.

So are you.

This realization is an awakening, a shift from an unconscious way of being to a conscious and responsible life.

The challenge is to daily, hourly, consistently remind myself that I Am not my mind and that I have freedom of choice to create beyond what the mind knows.

Permission: to give formal consent, to allow, to permit or to authorize.

Today I give myself permission to “Tell the Truth”.

I can do this by asking my Self if the information the mind is proposing, or the thoughts I am thinking, or the story the mind is concluding via interpretation is the absolute truth.

The information in my mind may not always be true. Conclusions are not necessarily the truth.

Feelings are the natural occurrence of the thoughts that foster them. I feel my thoughts, however just because I feel a thought does not mean it is true.

Most often we let our thoughts and feelings dictate our behavior without asking if it is the truth.

I, not my mind, am responsible for the behavior I demonstrate.

The thoughts, feelings, or stories, are not responsible because they do not have freedom of choice. I Am responsible. I chose to agree with them an acted accordingly.

Cultivating the ability to step back and consider whether or not I choose to agree with the minds current conclusions, at any moment, enhances my ability to communicate and behave responsibly.

The freedom to choose not to agree with the minds conclusion is disciplined denial.

Happiness is a function of accepting what is.

By stating the facts only regarding what is happening in present time, with nothing added on and no interpretation or fantasy, I allow everything to be just as it is.

Today I give myself permission to “Go for Results”

I can do this by being willing and eager to function outside of my minds need to be right.

Having to be right keeps the mind from going for a result beyond what it already knows.

Doing the same thing over and over and expecting new results is one definition of insanity.

The mind is functioning within its limited belief system and cannot be absolutely certain of what another is thinking or feeling. It also does not absolutely know what the next moment might bring.

The mind however, pretends it knows and can become painstakingly reasonable about it when its perceived authority is threatened.

Reasons, justifications and excuses are the content within the mind and therefore do not have choice.

When the mind becomes stuck in being right it cannot, on its own, experience the freedom of allowing any new possibility to occur outside of what it already knows.

I have choice and therefore I Am responsible, not my mind, for agreeing with the minds reasons, justifications and excuses for not going for a new and original result. Therefore I am responsible for staying stuck.

Ask yourself “Do I want to be right, or do I want new, fresh, and novel results?”

Having to be right also fosters anger, arrogance and hatred. Ask yourself “Do I want to be right, or do I want to be happy?”

Life becomes repetitious and stagnant when I give up my authority over the mind. By allowing my past to determine my present moment and also my future I suppress and dominate the possibility of miracles, spontaneity, discovery, and breakthroughs.

Today I give myself permission to “Maintain My Freedom of Choice”

The new information, goal, objective or result I create can be experienced as an infringement by the mind and it can become annoyed and frustrated. After all it often feels more comfortable being right than it does in opening up to something new.

Including something new can sometimes feel confusing.

The tendency at this stage is to attempt to avoid responsibility and stay stuck in the mind.

Here it is essential that I maintain my freedom to choose over the minds conclusions and the corresponding feelings.

To accomplish this it is essential to include the disciplined denial that is needed in order to tell the truth, and the willingness to imagine a result beyond what the mind insists on being right about.

By incorporating these three simple principles; Telling the Truth, Going for Results, and Maintaining My Freedom Of Choice, I can manage the authority problem and remain open to my potential and a world of new possibilities.

These principles are a few of the distinctions delivered and experienced in The Liberty Experience Training.

Knowing them intellectually is the booby prize. Experiencing and demonstrating them is the gift and creates expanded consciousness.

Come join us and open up to a universe of unlimited possibilities and actualize your potential.

Have Fun!

10 Quick Tips - Web Marketing for Trade Show Exhibitors

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:03 pm

Are you a stealth exhibitor? One who just shows up, passes
out a few brochures, leaves, and then complains it was a
lousy show. JULIA SAYS - “Wrong! Take the show seriously
and get your money’s worth for your company.”

How will people find you? One of the best ways is to utilize
your web site in simple, creative ways. These are 10 Quick
Web Tips for Trade Show Exhibitors -

1. LIST ALL YOUR SHOWS - Add all shows to your web site.
Whether local or international, each show is promotion for
your company. On your own web site, the listing promotes
you before the show and, thanks to search engines, can last
forever. Even if you have the smallest space at the show, the
listing implies you are an industry leader. Make sure the
listings are not on your site for more than a year after the
event.

2. LINK YOUR SITE - Your dealers and distributors should
be linked to your trade show site, so the information filters
down to an individual buyer who may be attending.

3. ADD A PHOTO - Highlight each of your exhibits for each
listing. Even if you have a small space, say a 10×10, surely
there is something unique about your exhibit - one
dominant image, a new sign, a photo of a give-away, the
grand prize.

4. WHO ARE YOU? - Folks love to see photos of people, so
add photos of your exhibit staff for each show. Photos will
make your staff more approachable by strangers, either
coming to your booth or during other activities at the show.

5. ADD A MAP - Focus on your physical location at the event.
Provide a floor map and highlight your spot. Why? So folks
will be looking for you.

6. WHERE ARE YOU? - Heavily promote your booth number.
Be careful if you are in a special hall. For large shows,
differentiate if your space is #1472 - East or West, North or
South, or by another name (hall designations). Get them in
the right hall and folks will find you. Just give them a
number? They will be mad if they wander around trying to
find you.

7. ADMISSION TICKETS - Offer those admission tickets
from show management on your site. Put in a deadline date
for mailing or pick-up.

8. SET APPOINTMENTS - Make it simple for people to
contact you before the show to set appointments during the
show. This allows you, and your visitor, to plan during a very
compressed time frame.

9. ARE YOU A SPONSOR? - Definitely link to the show site
to promote your sponsorship, to get your money’s worth.

10. TELL PEOPLE - Most folks won’t look at your site unless
you tell them to look at your site for trade show information.
Do this in person, via mail and your e-mail correspondence.

Your web site is a powerful tool in trade show marketing.
Utilizing the Internet is a no-brainer.

Websites and Scroll Bars.

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 5:29 am

Does your website have scroll bars? It might not seem like an especially important question, but it is. In fact, when it comes to website usability, the question of scrolling is one of the most vital ones out there.

Tired of all those annoying scroll bars on websites, documents, etc? Want to get a bigger screen and not pay 300 bucks? Well, here’s a simple little trick that many folks have never even thought of: Change your screen resolution.

Do Users Like to Scroll?

One of those eternal questions of web design is whether users are fine with scrolling, or whether they hate it. In reality, the answer lies somewhere between the two: plenty of users don’t mind scrolling in the least, but there are plenty of users who still just don’t scroll. The very young (with low attention spans) and the very old (with poor hand-eye co-ordination) are the two biggest groups in this category, but it is also true of people who are just new to the web. You should be designing your site so that scrolling gives added value, but isn’t essential for basic usability.

The Mouse Wheel Revolution.

Since the beginnings of the web, people have become much more receptive to scrollable pages, thanks to mouse wheels and similar devices. These let them scroll with a quick flick, instead of the inconvenience it used to take. As a result, your visitors will be much more willing to scroll on your website than they used to be, and this works to your advantage. Still, you shouldn’t rely on it completely.

Don’t Eliminate it Entirely - But Pay Attention.

The answer, then, when it comes to scrolling, is to be sensitive about it. Place everything important in a position that allows it to be reached with no scrolling even on the smallest monitors. Give your users the choice of whether to scroll or click, by linking to the individual parts of the article at the top of the page in a table of contents. In short, let the scrollers scroll, but don’t hide anything from the people who don’t want to.

Please, No Horizontal Scrolling!

Whatever you do, though, keep your scrolling vertical. Left-to-right scrolling on the web is an absolute abomination. Users aren’t expecting it, mouse wheels can’t do it, and web browsers aren’t designed for it. In short, it is a very, very bad idea. Every so often some designer will come along and try to make it work, thinking they’re being edgy and innovative (after all, no-one else is doing it), only to produce a completely terrible website. In the history of the web so far, there has never been a good horizontally scrolling website, and you’re not going to be the designer who produces one.

Keep Flash Away from Scroll Bars.

Another common design mistake when it comes to scroll bars is to think that you can do it better than the web browser, and use Flash to create non-standard scroll bars. While you might like the look you create, it will inevitably be less useful to your visitors than a normal scroll bar would have been.

Your scroll bar won’t be immediately recognisable as what it is. It’s unlikely to work with mouse wheels or keyboard shortcuts, and you probably won’t even let users scroll by clicking in exactly the way they want. You end up designing a scroll bar that’s ideal for you, but frustrating for everyone else. However ugly you might think the default scroll bars are, people know how they work, and they’re used to them - they don’t want to learn something new just to use your website.

Scroll Bars are Better than New Pages.

No matter how down you are on scroll bars, it’s always a bad idea to replace them with pagination. An article can easily become three or four pages long with the user having to click a ‘next’ button to get from one page to the next, and that’s just unacceptable on the web - especially since, on smaller screens, some scrolling will be required anyway. If you think users dislike scrolling, then you have to realise that they dislike waiting for new pages to load even more: if your site requires them to wait for more than a few seconds between pages, they’ll abandon articles even if they’re in the middle of reading them.

Avoiding eBay Buying Pitfalls

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:14 pm

As with a real market, trading on eBay is not without its hassles and snags.

First of all, it should be duly noted that eBay is an online market/transaction facilitator. It merely becomes a means for the buyer and the seller to meet.

Because of its online nature, eBay’s auction listing provides the buyers with a wide selection of goods. The buyers are also enabled to review the buyer through its feedback rating. This helps the buyer decide whether to pursue the trade or not.

The sellers on the other hand, benefit from a wider audience due to the popularity of eBay because eBay enables them to post easily, quickly, and extensively.

When eBay connects buyer and seller, the transactions truly begin…as well as the headaches.

Even with the automated nature of most of today’s transactions, eBay is still built on the basic foundation of trading: trust.

A good deal of trust is involved in eBay trading. The buyer has to trust that the seller is listing a legitimate item, and that he or she will deliver that item when paid. The seller has to trust the buyer to pay fully and without any catches.

Here are some of the problems one may encounter while buying on eBay.

Seller does not deliver product This is the buyer’s biggest fear. However, it is also one of the most common snags buyers encounter. Usually, when closing a deal, the seller will email purchase instructions to the buyer. This will most usually include instructions for payment. The seller will then promise to have the item delivered upon receipt of payment.

If the buyer, after fulfilling his or her part, does not receive the item within the agreed upon date, he or she should immediately try contacting the seller. If this proves to be fruitless, he or she should file a complaint with eBay for assistance regarding the matter.

Seller delivers a different/defective product Sometimes the trading is smooth. Everything goes according to schedule. However, upon receipt of the item, the buyer finds out that the item is significantly different from its description on eBay.

What should the buyer do about this?

Good communication between the buyer and seller usually brings about a speedy and satisfying end to any trading dispute. This should always be step one for disputes.

Seller cannot be contacted to close deal or for questioning Most disputes come about due to miscommunication between seller and buyer.

But if the seller can not be contacted, that presents a bigger problem for the buyer - especially if that person has already fulfilled payment of the item.

eBay may help in this regard by furnishing you with further information on the seller.

Keeping You Confident!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 3:06 pm

We can all be confident when we are sure of ourselves and knowledgeable about the situation in which we find ourselves. But what happens when we are not so sure and when we are forced to step outside our comfort zone? What happens to our thinking?

First we need to control our thinking then we need to develop techniques for remaining confident in a wide variety of scenarios and to catch ourselves when confidence begins to wane.

11 Techniques to Boost Self-Confidence

First of all let’s demolish a myth that some people believe about confidence …… You don’t have to be an expert in something to have confidence.

You can have 2 people learning a new task, and one person is learning to do the task with confidence, while the other is making lots of mistakes and getting flustered. It’s not about how well you do a particular task, but how you feel inside as you are doing it that makes you confident. If I had to choose to be confident in one area only, I would make that area ‘learning whilst making mistakes’.

First identify a situation where you would like to be more confident, for example:

o In meetings with an important person

o Giving presentations

o Giving honest feedback

o Visiting a client

o In a sales context

o Networking with friends and prospective business associates

o Meeting new friends
