Greed and Selfishness: Knowing The Difference And Loving Yourself!

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 4:29 am

I hear many people discuss how selfishness leads to greed, or that being greedy is part of being selfish. I simply have to say that “greed” and “selfishness” are not the same things. These are “value words” and are based on ideas and information drilled into our heads when we were younger as something known as “basic morals.”

As you grow and change, you find that these value words don’t seem to fit any longer and, instead of providing a basis from which we can learn, they begin to hinder progress. If you learned that being selfish meant not doing for others and that selfishness was bad, then all your life you will be taken advantage of and used by those that have come to realize that it is okay to be selfish with oneself.

However, this basic idea of selfishness preempts the definition of love. What this means is that, if we’re selfish of ourselves, we can never love. This too is untrue! If we are selfish with ourselves, we seek that which is right and true for ourselves. In this search, we can find that person that is right for us and we love them because they provide the feelings that we seek for satisfaction.

Greed is a feeling for materialistic “things”. Selfishness is a feeling for oneself.

In today’s society, we have many incorrect ideas pounded into our heads by “parental voices” condemning and patronizing us into submission. When we begin to love ourselves and live for ourselves, we associate that feeling with the negative connotation of selfishness.

Redefine the meanings of your value words. Don’t just accept a value word as an absolute because it came from someone else who you feel “has it all together”. While they might have it all together in an area of their life that you see, they might be in turmoil in some other area of their life. Learn to redefine and trust your own values based on your own ability to reason.

What Is a Singing Voice Lesson?

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 11:10 pm

If you are interested in becoming a professional singer or even if you are just interested in taking singing lessons for fun it is likely that you may be interested in receiving some professional assistance. When looking for professional assistance many individuals come across something known as a singing voice lesson. Many individuals may already know what a singing voice lesson is; however, if you are new to the world of singing then you may not.

A signing voice lesson is technically just another term used to describe a singing lesson. Each day there are a large number of singing lessons that are given around the world. These singing lessons can occur in a school, in a home, or an offsite business location. While a singing lesson and a voice singing lesson are similar they do have a few differences.

Many traditional singing lessons focus on a wide variety of different things. Of course a person’s ability to sing is considered; however, that is not always all that is taken into consideration. Many traditional singing lessons focus on a person’s posture, body language, and their ability to sing. Singing lessons also tend to offer singing help on common music genres instead of just focusing on one.

A singing voice lesson may focus on other things besides a person’s voice; however, that tends to be the main focus. It is also common for many singing voice lessons to be tailored to a specific genre of music. There are many individuals who wish to learn how to sing in general, but others may be more focused on singing in a specific music genre. Rap music does not sound anything like country music; therefore, different singing approaches are often taken.

Individuals wishing to take a singing voice lesson have a number of options to choose from. There are many aspiring singers who prefer to work one-on-one with a music teacher or a voice coach. These lessons are often costly because they often require a large amount of time and travel. A cheaper way that many aspiring singers choose to have a singing voice lesson is by purchasing singing voice lesson music equipment.

Online and in retail stores across America there are a large number of singing resources. It is possible to purchasing a singing voice lesson DVD or CD. These items cost less than most face-to-face singing lessons. Aspiring singers are only required to pay for the singing voice lesson DVD or CD once, but they can use them over and over again. This is beneficial to a wide number of singers because usually more than one lesson needs to be taken to show improvement.

When looking to take a singing voice lesson individuals are encouraged to consider their financial resources and what they hope to get in return for taking a singing voice lesson. Individuals who are unable to pay for a one-on-one singing voice lesson are encouraged to considering purchasing a DVD or CD. These items are great resources for aspiring singers who are limited as to how much money they can put into their career.

White Sun - The Master

Filed under: New Age Hub — admin @ 3:17 am

Lotus flowers grow from their roots in muddy pools, yet they retain their purity. Pine trees flourish in fierce winds and bitter snow, but this power of endurance makes them an extraordinary species. Like the lotus and the pine tree, an extraordinary person is born. There is a saying, “From a poor family comes a respectful son. From a troubled country comes a loyal official.”

This is a story of a master in China:

“During the Yuan Dynasty, there lived a man by the name of Xu Heng. He was fleeing from war with a large group of people and they were all suffering dreadfully from thirst. Then they came upon some pear trees, heavily laden with ripe and juicy fruit. Being so thirsty, they all pushed and jostled to pick the fruit except Xu Heng who sat quietly under the tree, taking a rest.

One of them ran over to him and said:

Listen. In troubled times like this, the owner of these trees would have run off a long time ago. No-one owns these pears, so why not pick them?

Xu Heng replied:

Just because these pears have no master, should my heart also be ungoverned.”

Naturally, people will not practise negative deeds if the situation never arises. Those who don’t know about smoking will not smoke. Those who don’t know how to gamble will not gamble and those who have no knowledge about alcohol will not drink. This is the natural way of people. It is those who have the chance to engage in such activities but choose not to be involved exhibit extraordinary integrity. Given the chance to accept bribery, they choose not to give in to temptation. It is rare to find this type of person whose resolution does not waver or become confused by the temptations of the world. Such people have great determination and will power and they can be the masters.

A person can have no achievement unless his unchanging heart is in control otherwise his mind is constantly changing by the environment and he can become enslaved by the physical aspects of life. He is easily moved by the environmental conditions and circumstances, swept back and forth with the tides and waves of the world. This is the advice from a Saint:

“In our cultivation we must remain uncontaminated by the black dye (the dirt of the world), undiminished by grind and polish (difficulties), unsubdued by force and undaunted by poverty. In other words, as we live in this world of temptation, it is important not to be contaminated by the dust and dirt. Be in the world, but do not be tainted by it. We must recognize our direction in life and not be manipulated or misled by our environment. Adopt the bearing of a true cultivator who is not swayed by the force of circumstances. Use our wisdom to guide us so that we will not be confused. In this way we can cultivate with determination and not give up when times are hard. We can then proceed to refine ourselves and finally become people with extraordinary qualities.”

It is natural that when we first deviate from the path of truth, we experience a guilty conscience but we tend to ignore the inner heart of this conscience and continue on our path of unrighteous thoughts and actions. If we continue in this way, the conscience slowly becomes insensitive and eventually it becomes no more than an empty and meaningless word. There is a saying:

“When the fire of anger and the water of desire reach boiling point, a person may have a clear understanding of truth, but still violate it regardless of his understanding. Who is the person who has the understanding? Who is the person who violates the truth? If you can transform your negative qualities with great determination, the devil in you can turn into a true cultivator.”

Let the principle of life and your conscience guide your actions. Recognize the fine line between the principle of truth and human desire. Learn to see the difference and not be tempted into it. You can then walk unswervingly through the hustle and bustle of the world and remain unmoved by the torrents of material world. The advice of how to be a master:

“Stand on Heavenly principles and you will be strong. Seek according to human desires and you will be weak. A person who is strong has a heart that is unaffected by wealth or poverty, nobility or humility, disasters or fortunes in the world. A person who is weak has a heart that is moved by temptations as small as a feather.”

To lead a meaningful life, we must extend our strength and wellbeing to others by spreading the knowledge of truth wherever we go. To achieve such strength we must emulate the compassionate heart of saints and sages. Do understand the essence of our conscience and don’t let the heart full of desires and ignorance becomes the basis of our thoughts and actions. Be a master.

Author: T.A Chew

T.A Chew has a great master of Tao of Heaven that he would like to emulate. It is an example of a meaningful life where the conscience rules the heart. If we have to unlock the door which keeps the conscience a prisoner, do it immediately so that we too can be the masters. Website: http://www.white-sun.com

What is Narcissism?

Filed under: Psychology Info — admin @ 11:00 pm

A pattern of traits and behaviours which signify infatuation and obsession with one’s self to the exclusion of all others and the egotistic and ruthless pursuit of one’s gratification, dominance and ambition.

Most narcissists (50-75%, according to the DSM-IV-TR) are men. The Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) is one of a “family” of personality disorders (known as “Cluster B”). Other members of Cluster B are Borderline PD, Antisocial PD and Histrionic PD. NPD is often diagnosed with other mental health disorders (”co-morbidity”) - or with substance abuse and impulsive and reckless behaviours (”dual diagnosis”). NPD is new (1980) mental health category in the Diagnostic and Statistics Manual (DSM). There is only scant research regarding narcissism. But what there is has not demonstrated any ethnic, social, cultural, economic, genetic, or professional predilection to NPD. It is estimated that 0.7-1% of the general population suffer from NPD. Pathological narcissism was first described in detail by Freud. Other major contributors are: Klein, Horney, Kohut, Kernberg, Millon, Roningstam, Gunderson, Hare. The onset of narcissism is in infancy, childhood and early adolescence. It is commonly attributed to childhood abuse and trauma inflicted by parents, authority figures, or even peers. There is a whole range of narcissistic reactions - from the mild, reactive and transient to the permanent personality disorder. Narcissistic Supply is outside attention - usually positive (adulation, affirmation, fame, celebrity) - used by the narcissist to regulate his labile sense of self-worth. Narcissists are either “cerebral” (derive their Narcissistic Supply from their intelligence or academic achievements) or “somatic” (derive their Narcissistic Supply from their physique, exercise, physical or sexual prowess and romantic or physical “conquests”). Narcissists are either “classic” [see definition below] or they are “compensatory”, or “inverted” [see definitions here: “The Inverted Narcissist”]. The classic narcissist is self-confident, the compensatory narcissist covers up in his haughty behaviour for a deep-seated deficit in self-esteem, and the inverted type is a co-dependent who caters to the emotional needs of a classic narcissist. NPD is treated in talk therapy (psychodynamic or cognitive-behavioural). The prognosis for an adult narcissist is poor, though his adaptation to life and to others can improve with treatment. Medication is applied to side-effects and behaviours (such as mood or affect disorders and obsession-compulsion) - usually with some success. The ICD-10, the International Classification of Mental and Behavioural Disorders, published by the World Health Organisation in Geneva [1992] regards Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) as “a personality disorder that fits none of the specific rubrics”. It relegates it to the category “Other Specific Personality Disorders” together with the eccentric, “haltlose”, immature, passive-aggressive, and psychoneurotic personality disorders and types.

The American Psychiatric Association, based in Washington D.C., USA, publishes the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, fourth edition, Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR) [2000] where it provides the diagnostic criteria for the Narcissistic Personality Disorder.

The DSM defines NPD as “an all-pervasive pattern of grandiosity (in fantasy or behaviour), need for admiration or adulation and lack of empathy, usually beginning by early adulthood and present in various contexts.”

The DSM specifies nine diagnostic criteria. For NPD to be diagnosed, five (or more) of these criteria must be met.

[In the text below, I have proposed modifications to the language of these criteria to incorporate current knowledge about this disorder. My modifications appear in bold italics.]

[My amendments do not constitute a part of the text of the DSM-IV-TR, nor is the American Psychiatric Association (APA) associated with them in any way.]

[Click here to download a bibliography of the studies and research regarding the Narcissistic Personality Disorder (NPD) on which I based my proposed revisions.]

Proposed Amended Criteria for the Narcissistic Personality Disorder

Feels grandiose and self-important (e.g., exaggerates accomplishments, talents, skills, contacts, and personality traits to the point of lying, demands to be recognised as superior without commensurate achievements);

Is obsessed with fantasies of unlimited success, fame, fearsome power or omnipotence, unequalled brilliance (the cerebral narcissist), bodily beauty or sexual performance (the somatic narcissist), or ideal, everlasting, all-conquering love or passion;

Firmly convinced that he or she is unique and, being special, can only be understood by, should only be treated by, or associate with, other special or unique, or high-status people (or institutions);

Requires excessive admiration, adulation, attention and affirmation - or, failing that, wishes to be feared and to be notorious (Narcissistic Supply);

Feels entitled. Demands automatic and full compliance with his or her unreasonable expectations for special and favourable priority treatment;

Is “interpersonally exploitative”, i.e., uses others to achieve his or her own ends;

Devoid of empathy. Is unable or unwilling to identify with, acknowledge, or accept the feelings, needs, preferences, priorities, and choices of others;

Constantly envious of others and seeks to hurt or destroy the objects of his or her frustration. Suffers from persecutory (paranoid) delusions as he or she believes that they feel the same about him or her and are likely to act similarly;

Behaves arrogantly and haughtily. Feels superior, omnipotent, omniscient, invincible, immune, “above the law”, and omnipresent (magical thinking). Rages when frustrated, contradicted, or confronted by people he or she considers inferior to him or her and unworthy.

Boost Your Creativity and Make it Work for You

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 1:02 pm

There are times when it can feel like you have simply run out of good ideas. This is the classical “writer’s block,” and you don’t have to be a writer to experience this phenomenon. No matter what you do for a living, your creativity can be one of your best resources. What can you do to boost your creativity when you feel as though you just can’t access that part of yourself? Take advantage of the mind-body connection to boost your creativity. There are a number of simple things you can do to clear your head and get your creative juices flowing.

*EXERCISE. Step away from your project and go for a walk, or head to the gym. Exercise promotes the flow of oxygen to your brain. Exercise also releases stress-relieving endorphins and decreases the levels of cortisol (i.e., stress hormone) in your body. All of these positive side effects of exercise will help to get your creativity going again.

*GET PLENTY OF SLEEP. Be sure you are getting sufficient sleep. In our fast-paced world, it’s easy to short-change yourself on sleep. We need at least eight hours of sleep to be fully alert and functioning at our best. It is impossible to come up with your best ideas when you are sleep deprived.

*GET AWAY. Take a vacation or mini-vacation for a change of pace and scenery. Do something totally outside of your ordinary routine. This will help you to see the world differently and get a fresh perspective. If now is not a good time for a vacation to the Bahamas, take a mini-vacation. This can be as simple as a 5-minute break to close your eyes and use imagery to evoke a relaxing scene in your mind.

*PRACTICE RELAXATION, MEDITATION, OR YOGA. Inducing a relaxed state of mind and clearing your mind of clutter will help you focus in the present moment. You will be surprised at the creativity that returns to you once your mind has been freed of the clutter of your daily thoughts and worries.

*SCHEDULE FOR CREATIVITY. Notice the days and times of day you are most likely to be creative and have good ideas. Rearrange your schedule to best utilize those times for your creative endeavors. Treat this like an appointment with yourself. Do not let other matters intrude on this important time.

*GET COACHING. Coaching is an excellent way to get your creativity flowing again. As a coach, I love to work with creative clients. Even the most creative person sometimes feels stuck, or has difficulty implementing creative ideas. Having a supportive coach to assist you in brainstorming and developing specific plans to implement creative ideas can move you much further along than when you work alone. An example that comes to mind is a woman with whom I recently talked to about business ideas. For several years, she has had the idea of marketing her creative therapeutic interventions to other therapists, but she has never had a plan for moving forward with her business. After just a few conversations, she is developing a website and products she will be marketing to other therapists. The support of a coach can be of tremendous value as you take action to put your creativity to work!

AI Machines With a Sense of Humor

Filed under: Online Video Resources — admin @ 10:13 pm

You know we really need artificial intelligent robotic androids, which have a sense of humor if they are to be our counter parts in the work force. If we are to build organization capital with our AI Machines like we do when we bond with other humans for the betterment of the goal or mission or Corporation then we must feel close to our AI Robotic Androids.

Lets face it if you are going to design artificial intelligence to replace me as a CEO of the company and my best executives in marketing, surely you programmers can design one to come up with new slogans, catchy phrases and unique thought and creativity. If not you programmers are still in my opinion in only the first stages of artificial intelligence. I do not accept anything from anyone except best efforts here.

Especially if you programmers are to replace humans with decision making computers; we need to show a little creativity here, both from the artificial intelligent systems and those excuse making humans who program them. So those are my thoughts although you bring up some good points or humorous events and results currently being rendered.

Look here is the bottom line; if you want me to work under or along side an artificial intelligent robotic android, then you will need to build them with a sense of humor. They must be able to take a joke and make a joke. Not tell a pre-programmed joke I have heard before and not keep telling the same joke in the same circumstances over and over again you see? Consider this in 2006.

The Magic Feather

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 12:07 pm

A tiny, yet powerful coach said, “The things that held you down are going to carry you up, and up, and up!…You’ll be the world’s only flying elephant!” That line was delivered by Timothy, the friendly mouse and cheerleader in one of my all time favorite Disney movies– Dumbo. The tenderness of that movie always makes me cry. What inspires me about it is the way our little elephant hero triumphs over rejection and learns to believe in himself.

Facing rejection is hard for everyone, and if you’re in a service business where your product is YOU, the fear can be paralyzing at times. Yet, in order to succeed, you have to be willing to put yourself out there and believe that you can do it! And that is especially true in the early phases of your business. When it’s all hard work and results haven’t shown up yet, all you’ve got is belief to keep you going!

Here are a few things I’ve learned about getting through fear and developing belief:

Your belief must be greater than your fear. It can be a struggle, and there are days when fear wins, but keep paying attention to what’s working for you. Acknowledge your successes, great and small. Authentic belief is built through repeated positive experiences, so pay attention. You want to develop positive beliefs, not more negative ones!

Believe in yourself–not circumstances. This one is tricky. If you haven’t developed belief in yourself, it’s tempting to place your belief in something else like a job, a business partner, the economy, or a certain opportunity. This can be good for awhile, but it’s a simple fact of life that people, places, and conditions are changeable. Your success is ultimately created by you, for you. Be willing to take some risks, and be sure to claim your rewards.

All great endeavors will be tested. Facing one’s fears can require tremendous amounts of self-work and courage. If it’s something you really, really want, it can take years. But then at some point you make the leap into action and it’s glorious! You’re flying high and free. Then oops, something doesn’t go according to plan and you begin to fall a little bit. That can be so scary! Setbacks do not mean you’re failing. Use them as opportunities to deepen and refine your true beliefs.

You’re a natural born flyer–the world’s one-and- only “you.” The magic feather of “belief” is the mind’s way of remembering what is already true.

MovableType SEO

Filed under: Uncategorized — admin @ 6:21 pm

Alright I touched on Movabletype and SEO this last week in my best movable type plugins article with the intent to come back and provide some specific details. I will tell you that Movabletype is optimized quite well out of the box, but there are a few quick tricks to easily providing the spiders with some dynamic content.

For my main home page and category index pages I hardcode most of my meta data. Your meta tags will be at the top of the template within the tag. You can get fancy on your index pages but I cannot really see why. Optimize these two templates by hand for whatever keywords you are targeting site wide.

The important part of your main index template is telling Googlebot what the title of your blog and lead article are properly. This is accomplished with heading tags. For the title of your blog you can do this:

“><$MTBlogName$>

And for your lead article do this:

“>

rel=”bookmark” title=”<$MTEntryTitle$>“><$MTEntryTitle$>

This is pretty much essential as we know that all search engines give weight to heading tags. You should do this as well in your archive templates.

So let’s focus on the individual archive template as this is the page you want ranking well in the SERPS. From my testing the code I use on two separate blogs (this one and PlanetBangkok) the results show up very neat and tidy in Google, Yahoo, and MSN. By this I mean the title and description fields are what I am expecting them to be. Here is an example with Google from last weeks: Article Post Robot Review (hopefully I am still front page).

Ok back to you meta tags but this time go into your individual archive template. Take a look at the following from my own page:

“>

Most of this is self explanatory. Notice the <$MTEntryKeywords$> is being used to generate keywords from your entry page (you may need to turn this field on in the MT entry area). The meta description data is going to be the first 30 words from your entry body as I have done with <$MTEntryBody words="30"$> - so you should see some nice descriptions in the search results pages. Finally I structure my title to contain both the category and entry title - we all know yahoo loves them </i> tags mmm’kay.</p> <p>Now one final caveat with meta data is the issue/non-issue of comment links. Personally I love comments, and I do not mind people adding a link to my articles as long as their comment has some meaningful input. Others disagree and feel that excessive comment links leak pagerank like a sieve. I’m not too concerned with this notion as the pagerank loss is minimal and Google has done its best discounting links from popular weblog software. So this is open to debate but for the record I do not bother.</p> <p>If you want to stop Googlebot indexing your comment links you can simply place a robots meta tag in your <i>comments template</i> like so:</p> <p><i> <meta name="robots" content="noindex, nofollow"> </i></p> <p>Finally page names are important to all search engines and URL’s like <i>/archives/09/12/i_need_skillz_bec.html</i> are about as useful as tits on a bull. I use the dashify plugin to structure my page names for SEO. It’s a 3 minute change - for details take a look at my best movable type plugins article.</p> <p>And that is pretty much it. Of course how well you do in the actual search results pages depends on many factors outside the scope of this article, but doing your meta data properly is pretty much square one. Having said that it is also well known that Google ignores most of your meta tags. I was snooping through Matt Cutts page source the other day and noticed he uses no meta info at all. In fact you might notice that many large websites pay no attention to meta tags …Regardless these tags are still important for Yahoo, MSN and the rest of the stragglers and Google seems to always uses my descriptions properly for its results.</p> <p>Although dated i still think Nicholas Carvine’s article on Movabletype SEO is one of the best online.</p> <p>I hope someone finds this helpful. If I missed something cool and useful let the comments fly.</p> </div> <div class="feedback"> <span>Comments Off</span> </div> </div> </div> <div class="main"> <div class="mainhdr">December 24, 2008</div> <div class="post" id="post-329"> <h3 class="storytitle"><a href="http://ungenerous.com/archives/2008/12/24/i-use-library-computers-to-make-money/" rel="bookmark">I Use Library Computers to Make Money</a> </h3> <div class="meta"> Filed under: <a href="http://ungenerous.com/archives/category/commerceopps/" title="View all posts in Commerce Opps" rel="category tag">Commerce Opps</a>, <a href="http://ungenerous.com/archives/category/theloanscredithub/" title="View all posts in The Loans + Credit Hub" rel="category tag">The Loans + Credit Hub</a>, <a href="http://ungenerous.com/archives/category/universeofmarketing/" title="View all posts in Universe Of Marketing" rel="category tag">Universe Of Marketing</a> — admin @ 10:16 pm </div> <div class="storycontent"> <style type="text/css"> <!-- .style1 {color: #999999} --> </style> <style type="text/css"> <!-- .style1 {color: #990000} .style2 {font-weight: bold} .style4 {font-weight: bold} .style5 { color: #FF0000; font-weight: bold; } --> </style> <style type="text/css"> <!-- .style3 {color: #000000} --> </style> <div align="center"> <p><img src="http://www.top-paidsurveys.org/images/topsurveybanner3.jpg" width="410" height="134"></p> <p><span class="style5">Get Access To Top 7 Paid To Survey Networks, FREE!<br /> Get Paid $5 - $295/Survey!
